It is me Quein again, a blog commenter for the Manaiakalani Summer Learning Journey. Thank you for sharing your mahi. It was AWESOME!!! To see you create these poems that strongly resonate with the feeling of summer time. Well done on speaking clearly and confidently in your poems. It is great to see that you are being a poet. I really enjoy eating ice-cream and having family barbecues.

My favoutire poems are Haiku poems. They are very short and powerful and originated in Japan.

Do you have a favorite poem?

Keep up the Super work I look forward to your next blog post!!!

    Ngā mihi,
    Quein

  2. Kia Ora Hamzah,

My name is Zana and I am a blog commenter from the summer learning journey.

I love this activity because it involves one of my favourite forms of writing which is poetry! You did an amazing job writing and reading your haiku and tanka poems and I love your summer theme with the beach and the sun mentioned in both poems.

Remember that a haiku is 5, 7, 5 syllables not words and a tanka is 5, 7, 5, 7, 7 syllables not words. It seems you may have done the number of words rather than syllables so maybe you could try it again.

Keep up the good work and I hope to see more of your posts during the Summer Learning Journey!!

    Ngā mihi nui,
    Zana Yates

  3. Ka pai Hamzah. Good job for reading your feedback and editing your poems. I see you've been entering them into the slam (you and your sister have the most entries). Have you visited this site to read and comment on some other students' poems?

  4. Hi Hamzah!

My name is Vaha and I'm a year 7 student at Pt England School. I liked reading your tanka poem and haiku poem. I like all the things in the poem. In the summer I like to play a lot of sports, swim, and eat/lick my ice cream. What do you like to do in the summer? Amazing work!

    From Vaha
