Summer Learning Journey week 1 day 2 activity 1

Week 1 Day 2 Activity 1

Hello  bloggers

In this task I learnt about two famous aviators. Their names are Jean Batten and Amelia Earhart. Jean Batten was born in Rotorua NZ and was the first women to fly by herself from England to NZ.  Amelia Earhart was born in USA. She was the first women to fly by herself across the Atlantic Ocean, from Canada to Northern Ireland. They were both very strong brave woman. I have make a Veen diagram to show the difference and similarities between the two woman.

I hope you guys are enjoying your holiday

summer learning journey week 1 day 1 activity 3

week 1 day 1 activity 3

Hello bloggers

There are people that do good in this world. Some people start their own Charity's whether it's to help rescue people, feed people, rescue animals or sea life and others contribute by donating to the charity. Sir Edmund Hillary was famous for being the first person to climb Mt Everest in 1953. He also started his own charity, Himalayan trust in 1960 to bring education healthcare and safe drinking water to the people of Nepal.

The charity that I have chosen is Air Rescue. Air Rescue Trust works around Canterbury and West Coast regions. It has been around since 1989. In times of emergency the Air Rescue is there to help save lives. Their main support is the public people and businesses around New Zealand. If they don't get donation they wouldn't be able to help save peoples lives in emergency situations.

I have chosen Air Rescue because I like helicopters and that they can be used for saving lives.I have never been in a helicopter before.
Has anyone been on a Air Rescue Helicopter?

bye

Hello Bloggers

Many people believe that the first person to discover (Aotearoa) New Zealand was kupe. He navigated from hawaiki to Aotearoa using the stars, sun, and ocean swells. However Abel Tasman thought he was the first person to discover NZ in 1942 even though the Maori's were already here. Kupe and Abel were both from different cultures and backgrounds but had the same interest in wanting to explore the world.

I am from Afghanistan which is in Asia.  I am born and raised in NZ but have only gone once to Afghanistan  in 2017 for only 10 weeks.  My dads side  of the family lives in Afghanistan in a city called Jalalabhad but my mother side  moved to NZ in 1991 and has been raised in NZ.  I speak Pushto but some people speak Farsi too.  We normally sit on the floor and eat. People in Afghanistan wear colourful clothes.we have big nice mountains and waterfalls. Our country has had wars for many years so its not very safe unlike New Zealand you can walk around freely.I love NZ but i miss my family there too.  I wish it was safe there too.

Summer learning journey- week 1 day 1 activity 1

Hello Bloggers,

My name is Hamzah. This is my first time taking part in the Summer Learning Journey.  I am really excited about learning new things and make new friends.  I am also looking forward to reading everybody's blogs.

Nainoa Thompson  from the Pacific was an excellent explorer and navigator. He used the stars, moon, sun and ocean to navigate his way to the pacific ocean in his canoe called Hokule'a and Hikianalia .  Today  we are lucky that we have technology and can use compasses and GPS to easily navigate our way through in our fully equipped ships.

For this activity I am imagining that I am going on a three week journey and I can choose 10 things that I can take with me that doesn't use electricity because there is no oven or freezer that we can use.  Below I have chosen 10 things that I will take with me.

1. Water
2. Long life milk
3. Milo
4. Cookies
5. Candy
6. Chips
7. apples
8. Crackers
9. Cereal
10. Lemon and black Tuna

I have chosen these things because they will give me energy and keep me full.
Thank you for reading my blog
