Guten Tag Bloggers!
New Zealand's native language is Maori. Te reo Maori is now being used more often and we are taught in schools some simple words and sentences. Pappa Jarrod at our school teaches us Maori phrases. A lot of roads in New Zealand have Maori words.
For today's task we were given slides to fill in. I have uploaded my completed slides for you guys to see. I have learned many things from this task. One thing I have learnt is that takaro poitukohu means playing basketball. The thing that i found challenging was how to pronounce the words correctly in Maori. I had fun singing the song especially when it had names of suburbs that i've been to for example I have been to Onehunga.
I hope you enjoyed my post.Let me know what Maori words you know.(Goodbye:)
Kia Ora Hamzah,
ReplyDeleteMy name is Zana and I am a blog commenter from the Summer Learning Journey, it is awesome to see your first post of the summer and I look forward to seeing more as you continue blogging!
I enjoyed this activity because I think it is important for everyone to learn and practice their Te Reo Māori. Your slide was very well done and you translated and rearranged the sentences well!
I see in the last slide that you are going swimming today, good idea it is a perfect hot day for swimming! Are you going to the beach or a pool?
It is also awesome to see that you posted a video of you answering the questions, your pronunciation was great so good job!
Keep up the great work and I hope to see more of your posts over the summer.
Ngā mihi nui,
Zana Yates
KIA ORA
